WASTE REPURPOSED

BOARD SOCKS ARE MADE OF PLASTIC.

These plastics take up to 200 years to break down in our landfills and oceans. Extensive amounts of harmful chemicals, carbon emissions, microplastics and fresh water consumption result from the average board bag.

THE PROBLEM

The global textile industry creates 66.1 billion pounds of plastics, consumes approximately 60.2 billion pounds of cotton and releases 2.7 trillion pounds of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere annually.

Every year, approximately 15% of textile production is discarded to landfills, in the forms of cuttings, trimmings and manufacturer defects. This amounts to a massive waste of potentially reusable materials that can be repurposed without further perpetuating the environmental impacts.

Pure Waste

We've partnered with a Helsinki-based pioneer, breaking new ground in textile recycling worldwide. Their operations are focused on collecting and recycling the waste from the textile industry at the source of the problem. The waste is sorted, cleaned, processed and manufactured into innovative new solutions.

Our bags are made of 100% recycled fibers, meaning no newly produced materials need to be used in manufacturing, preventing the continued negative environmental consequences of new materials.

QUALITY GUARANTEED

Our GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified recycled textiles are sophisticatedly manufactured to offer superb quality and comfort comparable to those made from virgin materials. No dyes or chemicals are added to our products. The recycled fabric embodies the color of the original waste fabric. The waste originates from factories operating to Western standards, so there's no need to be concerned by the term. The fabric is also washed and spot checked consistently. We are committed to instilling confidence in joining the recycled revolution.

CHANGING THE INDUSTRY

The textile industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. It is an industry stuck in the Dark Age — however, there is hope for change.

By using recycled materials, Pure Waste has recycled over 1.2 million pounds of textile waste, removing 480,000 pounds of plastics, saving 1.1 million gallons of fresh water, and reducing 5.2 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions" (December 2021).

Ethical Responsibility

The Pure Waste production process is ethically driven by strict standards promised by SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) and BSCI A-grade (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certifications. Setting a new bar for working condition standards guaranteeing fair living wages for workers, benefits, healthy/safe working environments, and prioritizing voluntary working hours.
